Beyond visibility, the WTC provided MCU with clear strategic value. During the exhibition, the team held numerous high-quality customer conversations and generated a significant number of qualified leads, many of which involved decision-makers and key influencers. Representatives from almost 40 different companies spanning around 10 countries engaged with the MCU team, highlighting the strong international reach of the stand and the broad market relevance of MCU’s portfolio. Several concrete follow-up meetings were arranged, confirming the relevance of the congress for MCU’s long-term growth and market development.
Strong team effort and high-quality professional networking
In addition to many high-quality discussions and new contacts, the event also generated concrete project opportunities for the coming years. Overall, it became clear that the joint presence of international 18 MC and MCU colleagues from 8 different countries, the strong commitment of the entire team, and the positive atmosphere at stand B0703 all contributed significantly to this success. The congress enabled direct internal exchange, strengthened cross‑regional collaboration and helped align market insights, follow‑up actions and future priorities across the MCU organization.
“Looking back, it's clear just how much we achieved during those days. The quality of the discussions, the team spirit, and the overall impact all exceeded our expectations. It is a strong result that we can all be proud of, and it provides an excellent foundation for what lies ahead,” said Alexandre Mondrous, MC Canada’s managing director and project manager for this event, reflecting on the WTC and the team's strong performance. “For our team in Canada, having such a strong international team behind us was invaluable. And our booth itself received outstanding feedback. We received so many compliments, and people genuinely felt that our presence was one of the best at the entire congress.”
Modern exhibition stand that drew in the crowds
MCU also attracted considerable attention with its modern, highly visible exhibition stand. The centrepiece was a striking tower standing at over five metres tall. Designed in MCU’s black-and-white corporate style, it had a highly professional and sophisticated appearance. Large LED screens displayed various content, including live 3D VR shotcrete and TBM operation simulations in which visitors could participate on-site, as well as numerous MCU videos ranging from customer testimonials to presentations of our TBM, conventional tunnelling, mining and injection technology portfolios. The interactive stand attracted many visitors, encouraging discussion and networking, and proved to be a strong conversation starter.
“For me, this was the best meeting we have ever had, and I have attended quite a few over the years. It was clearly visible that customers now see us operating on the same level as the big players. We are really there, and that impression came across very strongly”, emphasised Lars Langmaack, Technical Director TBM at MCU, who was in charge of event organisation on the MCU side, adding: “The external impact was excellent, with many high-quality discussions and important decision-makers present. All in all, it was far more than just a nice event – it was truly outstanding.”
Early visibility thanks to a strong social media campaign
MCU’s presence at the trade fair was supported by an extensive social media campaign running from January to May, ahead of the WTC. By sharing targeted content showcasing MCU and its technologies, as well as its participation in the exhibition, MC’s tunnelling and mining experts generated significant early interest and considerably increased MCU’s reach. This approach clearly paid off, as the organising team led by Alexandre Mondrous and Lars Langmaack unanimously concluded.
Overall, WTC 2026 was a resounding success for MC Underground, showcasing strong market visibility, numerous meaningful professional interactions, tangible business opportunities, and a clear indication of MCU's ambition and capabilities within the global tunnelling industry.
