Through this expansion, MC-Bauchemie aims to support the growing construction and infrastructure development in East Africa over the long term and provide even more direct customer support on site.
Regional production and competence centre in Nairobi
MC-Bauchemie Kenya was founded in March 2026 and is headquartered in Nairobi. The company is being established as a regional production centre for powder-based construction chemical products and will in future serve markets in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, as well as neighbouring countries such as Rwanda, Burundi, parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Sudan.
The site includes a powder production facility, with future plans for liquid production of concrete admixtures, as well as warehouse and logistics areas and a modern quality control and research laboratory for mortar and admixture technologies.
Effective 1 May 2026, Shantanu Datta assumed responsibility as Managing Director of the new company. The 34-year-old mechanical engineer with a Master’s degree in International Business has been with MC-Bauchemie since 2020. After joining as a trainee, he has served as Business Development Manager Africa since 2022, supporting, among other things, the establishment of new MC companies in Tanzania and Egypt. In his new role, he will focus in particular on expanding MC-Bauchemie’s market presence in East Africa and developing new business opportunities.
Strategic expansion of activities in Africa
With the new companies, MC-Bauchemie continues to consistently pursue its international growth strategy. The investments in East Africa underline the strategic importance of the region and create the foundation for even closer cooperation with customers, partners, and infrastructure projects on site. At the same time, MC is strengthening its local production capacities and further expanding its technical consulting and development expertise in key African growth markets.
MC-Bauchemie has long-standing business relationships across the entire African continent, and has had its own companies in Ghana, Guinea, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Egypt for many years.
