New MC Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Tomás Guendelman

As part of this year’s MC-Fest, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented for the first time to an expert from Chile’s construction sector. With this new award, MC-Chile aims to annually honour outstanding professionals who have made significant contributions to the development of the construction sector in Chile.

A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Tomás Guendelman from the University of Chile, widely regarded as the most influential civil engineer in the country. He has shaped structural engineering in Chile for over 40 years through his expertise in the structural and seismic analysis of high-rise buildings, as well as in the design and development of projects in the mining, infrastructure and real estate sectors, all of which adhere to modern specialised standards and practices that are constantly updated.

Guendelman’s commitment to excellence, ethical standards and the education of future generations of engineers have played a key role in earning Chile international recognition in the field of structural engineering. In addition to his academic work, he is the founder and president of IEC Ingenieros and has also held leading roles in professional associations such as ACHISINA and the Institute of Engineers of Chile.
