Emcephob L pro is suitable for the hydrophobisation of concrete, exposed concrete and architectural concrete. It can also be used on cosmetically treated concrete, for example after concrete retouching with Repacryl, or after treatment with Emcefix or Nafuquick concrete cosmetic fillers.
The best hydrophobic effect is achieved by applying Emcephob L pro generously and to saturation on dry, highly absorbent substrates. The older and drier the concrete, the higher its absorption capacity. Therefore, particular care must be taken with young concrete to ensure that the residual moisture content does not exceed 4%. Concrete substrates with a higher residual moisture content have a significantly reduced absorption capacity. This results in a reduced hydrophobic effect, meaning that when it rains, the concrete appears visibly soaked and does not receive sufficient protection against water absorption.
Flexible application of the new hydrophobic agent
This water-based concrete hydrophobic agent reduces capillary water absorption, creating a pronounced beading effect. When dry, the product is invisible on the concrete, but when wet, its strong water-repellent effect becomes apparent. Concrete treated with Emcephob L pro also has increased resistance to frost and de-icing salts. Efflorescence and soiling are also reduced. Another benefit for health and the environment is that: Emcephob L pro is free from solvents and plasticisers.
This ready-to-use hydrophobic agent can be applied directly from the packaging. There is no need for time-consuming preparation or mixing of additional components. Emcephob L pro can be applied using a roller and/or sprayer. Standard tools such as short-pile rollers and the MC-Spezialspritze can be used for application, ensuring an even and generous coverage.
In practice, the cross-coat method has proven effective. First, apply from bottom to top to avoid run marks, then apply horizontally from left to right. This technique ensures the concrete surface is fully wetted, allowing the hydrophobic agent to penetrate deeply and evenly into the substrate. This method of application significantly contributes to optimum, long-lasting protection.
High-performance testing of the new hydrophobic agent Emcephob L pro
Emcephob L pro meets the latest technical standards and has been tested as a hydrophobic agent in accordance with EN 1504-2, Principles 1 and 2, and Methods 1.1, 2.1 and 8.1. Additionally, Emcephob L pro meets the requirements for use in sustainable construction. Within the DGNB* building certification system, the product has been allocated the highest quality level (4) in the DGNB criteria matrix ENV 1.2, 'Risks to the local environment'.
