EFC represents a significant innovation in sustainable construction, as it does not contain cement. However, one of its key characteristics is its strong adhesion to steel formwork, which makes demoulding considerably more difficult.
Clean demoulding and high surface quality with MC’s new release agent
Conventional release agents often lead to concrete residues and build-up on formwork surfaces when used with EFC. This negatively impacts the surface quality of the finished concrete. Ortolan GeCO2 330 has been specially developed to overcome these challenges. It ensures clean and residue-free demoulding, leaving formwork surfaces free of deposits and enabling the production of high-quality architectural concrete finishes. Field tests also confirm that the product performs reliably on wooden and plastic formwork. The high-performance release agent emulsion is based on paraffinic components and forms a weather-resistant film on the formwork surface. This film effectively prevents direct contact between the formwork and the EFC, ensuring consistent performance under varying conditions.
Release agent emulsion for sustainable construction
Thanks to its specially developed formulation, Ortolan GeCO2 330 meets key sustainability standards. The product achieves 72% biodegradability after 28 days in accordance with OECD 301 F and contains less than 1% VOC. Ortolan GeCO2 330 is listed in the DGNB Navigator, making it particularly suitable for sustainable construction projects aiming for DGNB certification. In addition, the product complies with the requirements of other building certification systems, including BNB and LEED.
