As part of the comprehensive renovation of the Jakobsberg Nature Resort in Boppard, Germany, aesthetically appealing, textured precast concrete elements were produced for the new spa area. By using coordinated concrete admixtures and a high-performance release agent from MC-Bauchemie, high-quality fair-faced concrete surfaces were achieved.

The Jakobsberg Nature Resort, located high above the Rhine near Boppard in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, has undergone extensive modernisation and will reopen in mid-May 2026. Surrounded by forests, vineyards, and castles, the resort offers 86 modern rooms and suites with an impressive view of the Rhine loop and combines nature, relaxation, and regional culture. A special highlight is the 18-hole championship golf course with spectacular views over the Rhine, Westerwald, Taunus, and Hunsrück.
As part of the renovation, the PURE ELEMENTS Spa was created. Covering 1,264 m², it features an indoor and outdoor pool, saunas, a steam bath, massage and beauty treatments, and a fitness area for holistic relaxation. As a design element, aesthetically appealing, textured concrete partition walls were installed, produced by Betonwerk Heinrich Hachmeister Andernach GmbH, a specialist in architectural concrete and individually manufactured concrete components with high design standards. A decisive factor was the precisely developed surface structure combined with a uniform, low-porosity fair-faced concrete finish.
To meet these requirements, Hachmeister used specially coordinated concrete admixtures from MC-Bauchemie during production. The high-performance super-plasticiser MC-PowerFlow evo 306 was used, enabling excellent flowability and workability of the concrete. This allows the concrete to be evenly distributed and compacted even in complex, structured formworks. In addition, Centrament Surface Pro, a special admixture designed to improve concrete surface quality, was applied. It reduces pore formation and supports the production of particularly uniform and high-quality fair-faced concrete surfaces. The combination of both admixtures enabled a stable concrete mix design that ensures both good workability and a low-porosity fair-faced concrete appearance.
In addition to the concrete mix design, the demoulding process also played an important role in achieving the desired surface quality. Especially with structured formwork, the release agent must work reliably without affecting the fine details of the surface structure. For this purpose, Hachmeister used the proven concrete release agent Ortolan Basic 761 from MC. The low-viscosity release agent forms a uniform, very thin separating film on the formwork surface, ensuring safe and clean demoulding even with complex formwork structures. At the same time, Ortolan Basic 761 helps further reduce pore formation on the concrete surface, thereby supporting the production of a homogeneous fair-faced concrete finish.
The partition walls in the new spa area of the Jakobsberg Nature Resort stand out with their precise structural detailing, uniform surface, and significantly reduced porosity. The project demonstrates how important the interaction between an optimised concrete mix design, high-performance admixtures, and a suitable release agent is for producing high-quality architectural concrete. The long-standing collaboration between MC and the concrete manufacturer Hachmeister enables tailored solutions for demanding precast concrete projects.
