Located near Strasbourg, Cave du Roi Dagobert brings together nearly 250 winegrowers from around 20 municipalities between Molsheim and Marlenheim. While the cooperative cultivated 70 hectares in its founding year of 1952, it now manages nearly 1,000 hectares. In May 2025, approximately 800 m² of flooring in a white wine cellar was renovated. The objective was a fast, hygienically flawless solution with high chemical resistance, while minimising disruption to wine production.
The requirements were clear yet demanding: the coating had to be food-safe and resistant to wine, acids and cleaning chemicals. In addition, it needed to be applicable quickly on damp substrates to prevent production downtime. The building owner and the contractor SERBET SA opted for a flooring system using MC-DUR TopSpeed from MC.
Several technical advantages of the system were decisive in this choice. In addition to its extremely rapid curing time, which enabled installation of the entire flooring system within two days and allowed the cellar to resume operations with virtually no interruption, the system also boasts a high mechanical strength combined with a significantly reduced layer thickness. Furthermore, it offered clear processing advantages over traditional thick-layer solutions such as PU-cement systems. Reduced material consumption, easier application and reliable installation even on damp substrates, made possible by KineticBoost Technology®, significantly increased execution reliability.
Another crucial factor was the HACCP certification, which permits unrestricted use in sensitive food-processing areas such as wine cellars. In addition, MC-DUR TopSpeed stands out for its high mechanical and chemical resistance to cleaning agents as well as the aggressive effects of wine. Its smooth, dense surface ensures easy cleaning and consistently high hygiene standards in daily operations. The system’s fast reaction time significantly reduced downtime and increased on-site productivity. This is an important added value for both operators and contractors.
The refurbishment was completed on schedule and took a total of two days: the first day was dedicated to substrate preparation, and the second day to the application of the complete MC-DUR TopSpeed system. The new floor meets all hygienic and operational requirements and was immediately ready for use. For Cave du Roi Dagobert, this meant rapid implementation, minimal downtime, secure processes, and a durable flooring solution with high long-term resistance. For MC-Bauchemie, this project represents another strong reference for the use of MC-DUR TopSpeed in food and wine production, and it is already the third successful application in French wine cellars. The combination of technical performance, short execution time and cooperative partnership once again demonstrates that reliable and sustainable solutions can be achieved even under demanding conditions.
